Meet Kirk Thompson
Kirk Thompson, a former NCAA Division I hockey player from Vancouver, British Columbia, is a proven operator, advisor, and entrepreneur. A graduate of the University of Nebraska–Omaha with multiple advanced degrees, Kirk has helped scale ventures across diverse industries. In 2018 he invested in 88 Tactical which launched his professional career as he helped drive significant local growth. As an Operating Partner at Rocket Carwash, he helped oversee organizational development and physical expansion from 7 to 28 locations in just three years. He also helped lead pandemic response operations for a healthcare startup that scaled to 70+ locations and served 1.4 million patients in under two years.
Most recently, Kirk became a Co-Owner and Alternate Governor for the Omaha Supernovas. Kirk helped spearhead the launch of the women’s professional volleyball team that shattered global attendance records and captured the national championship in its inaugural season. He also played a critical role in structuring a $300M+ consolidation between two competing pro volleyball leagues; the PVF and MLV. The result created the United States’ first conventional major league for the volleyball, that now features multiple owners from the NBA, NHL and MLS.
Kirk is still actively involved in the Omaha hockey community serving on the UNO Hockey Alumni Board and the Omaha Lancers Advisory Board. He and his wife Ava, who is a former NCAA Division 1 soccer player for UNO have called Omaha, Nebraska home since 2013 where they’re now raising their young boys, William and Mickey.
